Black is back. Samsung just announced that it will be selling the Galaxy S7 Edge in an all-new "black pearl" color starting today. This isn't to be confused with "black onyx," an existing color choice.

Here's the Galaxy S7 Edge in a new shade of black.

Samsung

It's been a good year for shiny, black phones after Apple unveiled the jet black iPhone 7 and quickly sold out. Last month, rumors arose that Samsung would release its own shiny black phone after photos of a glossy black Galaxy S7 Edge were spotted on Chinese chat app Weibo. Now Samsung has made it official. This isn't the only color palette addition we've seen for the S7 Edge either. Last month, the phone came out in coral blue, a color that originally belonged to the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7.

There is a catch -- you can only get the shiny new shade in the 128GB version. And while we also know you can get it starting December 9, we're not entirely sure which countries will have it.

Now that the Galaxy Note 7 is off the market, the S7 Edge is Samsung's premium flagship phone this holiday season. Adding a new color to the S7 Edge lineup may boost year-end sales. Future-lookers will also want to think about waiting for the Galaxy S8.
