LG G Flex curvy-phone fights Galaxy Round in leaked pics

Images purportedly showing LG's rumoured G Flex curved phone have emerged -- read on for all the info.

Images purportedly showing LG's hotly-tipped curved phone have emerged, as the rumoured mobile prepares to go head-to-head with Samsung's Galaxy Round.

The above snaps of the LG G Flex, as it's reckoned to be called, surfaced at AndroidAuthority, which cites an anonymous source who reportedly claims the phone will launch at some point next month.

The phone, which features a prominently bent display, is expected to have a full HD 1080p display, 4G and a Snapdragon 800 chip.

Hot on the heels of rumours that LG was crafting a curvy phone, Samsung revealed the Samsung Galaxy Round, a smart phone with its own gently-twisting display, that shows notifications when you tilt it up.

The Galaxy Round's screen is crucially different however, in that it curves up at the left and right edges of the phone, rather than the top and bottom. If curved smart phones take off, expect a fervent debate as to which kind of curve is superior.

Samsung's phone has quite a subtle curve, while -- as you can see above -- LG has gone for a more radical look. Let me know which one you prefer in the comments.

While both phones have bendy screens, they won't actually be flexible -- these smart phones use a clever curved display that's set into one position, so stow any hopes of rolling your phone into a tight scroll to fit inside your jeans pocket.

The G Flex, rumoured to be called the LG Z in Korea, isn't the only mobile that LG has on the cards -- it is also tipped to be building the Nexus 5, Google's next raw-Android smart phone.

The Nexus 5 could make an appearance on 15 October, and is rumoured to cost less than £250 in Europe.

With the Nexus 5 and the G Flex both looming large, it could be an exciting few months for LG. What do you think of the bendy Flex? Let me know in the comments, or on our Facebook wall.
