Droid Razr HD and Droid Razr Maxx HD could come in October

Motorola could follow up on its successful Droid Razr series with a Droid Razr HD and a long-lasting Droid Razr Maxx HD.

Verizon Wireless customers who thought they were getting a Droid Razr HD last week will have to wait a few more months.

Moto now is expected to release the Droid Razr HD and Droid Razr Maxx HD in October, according to tech site HotHardware. A source told the blog that the date may shift either direction and largely revolves around the sales of the current models.

Presumably, the two Android 4.0 handsets will offer identical hardware save for the extended battery life of the Maxx edition. Said hardware is rumored to include a 720x1,280-pixel HD display, 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processors, and maybe even a 13-megapixel camera.

If you thought that it's been a while since we last had much from Motorola and Verizon, you'd be right. Aside from the Droid 4 debut in February, there's not been any movement from the duo since last year's Razr rebirth.

Looking forward, we can expect that the rapid succession of Droid releases will slow to a crawl, especially in the wake of recent Motorola news. Between these two, the Atrix HD, and Sprint's Photon Q, the remainder of 2012 may be rather quiet over at Camp Moto.
