Comparing the Galaxy Z Flip 5, Z Flip 4 and Z Flip 3: How Samsung Flip Phones Measure Up
Check out the specs and price for Samsung's latest flip phone, compared with earlier models.
The specs and price of the new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 are now official. Along with the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Tab S9 and Galaxy Watch 6, the newest model of Samsung's foldable flip phone was one of the big highlights of Wednesday's Galaxy Unpacked event.
The most notable changes for the Galaxy Flip 5 are an improved hinge and faster processor, as well as a significantly larger, 3.4-inch screen. With its bigger front display, the Z Flip 5 marks the first major redesign of Samsung's modern flip phone in several years -- the Z Flip 4 and Z Flip 3 were nearly identical. A larger front screen, up from 1.9 inches on the prior two Z Flips, also allows Samsung to better compete with rival flip phones such as the recently released Motorola Razr Plus.
The new Razr looks very similar to the Z Flip 5, with both sporting dual front cameras. However, Samsung's newest flip phone runs on Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, which could help with images and battery life compared to older Z Flips.
Also new for the Z Flip is the ability to close completely flat with no gap around the hinge, a feature Motorola similarly implements for its Razr Plus to help keep out dust and debris.
What else is new? Here's how the Z Flip 5 compares to last year's Z Flip 4 and 2021's Z Flip 3 so you can easily see what specs have changed.
