What to expect at Apple's October event
Speaker 1: Apple set an event for October 18th. What can you expect? Let's talk about it.
Speaker 1: Apple's senior VP of marketing, Greg Jos react, posted a version of the announcement on Twitter. You can see an apple logo and then it's all light race. Like you were in a vehicle flying through space. The word east appears and flies by then we get the date of 10, 18 apple site has the time set for 10:00 AM Pacific. And of course that is [00:00:30] all we officially know because this is an announcement for an event where other announcements will happen. Apple rumors are a global pass time at this point. So let's talk about what we could be getting, be going from most likely to least likely in this video, by the way, most everyone is expecting new max, which makes sense. Considering the unleashed tagline of the event, we could be seeing those new MacBook pros that have been reported by mark Garman multiple times over at Bloomberg.
Speaker 1: Right now, there are a few models of the MacBook [00:01:00] Crow. There's an M one empowered 13 inch model, an Intel powered 13 inch model. And then there's this 16 inch model powered by Intel. At the October 18th event, we could see two new MacBook pro models, a 14 inch one, and a 16 inch one. They both would get a new design when it comes to the body of the laptop, expect thinner bezzles around the displays in inside would be new, more powerful apple built systems on a chip or SOC. There are rumors of two different SOCs, the [00:01:30] M one X and the M two. They could also be the same chip either way. Whatever's in the next MacBook pros will likely be an improvement on the current M one line.
Speaker 1: The M one has four high performance cores, four energy efficient cores and eight graphics scores, M one max also support two Thunderbolt ports. A new chip would feature eight high performance cores, two energy efficient ones and 16 or 32 graphics cores. [00:02:00] This new chip would also support more Thunderbolt ports. That is a lot of power Apple's own chips have been very, very power efficient. If the company can get that many cores into its M one successor, I'm curious, what if any effect it's going to have on battery life? These new chips could allow up to 64 gigabytes of Ram, the M one maxes out at 16. So this would be a very large jump that plays into the unleashed tagline as well. [00:02:30] The new laptops could also have some other ports. This could be a function of the new SOCs by the way, reports say there will be dedicated HDMI and SD card ports.
Speaker 1: These would be extremely useful for computer user and would bring back things that probably belong on a laptop with the pro designation Apple's magnetic charging tech MagSafe would also return in these laptops. MagSafe used to be standard on Apple's older laptops. The whole idea [00:03:00] behind the tech would be to save your laptop. In case you trip over the cable, you catch the cable as you trip the cable pops off the laptop without the expensive machine dropping to the earth in horrible slow motion. MagSafe got the boot from MacBook with the switch to USBC for charging apple brought the mag safe for the iPhone 12. That was more in name than anything else. This was large and the magnets were to align wireless charging surfaces. The MacBook mag safe used a pin system for [00:03:30] power. Let's talk about the touch bar. Also known as the control strip.
Speaker 1: The new map book pros would be ditching the little touch screen in 20 apple introduced the touch bar to replace the row of function keys. It would give you menus sliders and tools that could be changed per app. The idea is not that bad. The problem was replacing the function keys that people relied on to do things like changing the volume or keyboard shortcuts. The touch bar made you have to look at the virtual keys instead of [00:04:00] relying on touch alone. Physical function keys would be really nice. I'd imagine the top row would look like that of the MacBook air with touch ID staying on the right side. Oh, and even though these Macs would be able to run iOS and iPad apps, I do not believe any reports have said the new MacBook pros would feature touch screens.
Speaker 1: We could be getting new AirPods. The first generation AirPods came out in September, 2016. The second gen was March, 2019. [00:04:30] The pro was October, 2019 with the max arriving in December of 2020. So as you can see, there's no real timing pattern when it comes to AirPod releases. However, the AirPods three, you were rumored to be released several times in the past year or so. Maybe we'll see them at the October 18th event. There have been a lot of images online of what could be the AirPods three. They would look more like the AirPods pro thanks to a shorter stem. They might even get interchangeable. Eart tips like the pro. However, don't expect more [00:05:00] advanced feature like active noise cancellation and transparency mode on the regular AirPods. This is likely Apple's last event for the year. So if we don't get new AirPods, now we may not get them until next year.
Speaker 1: The MacBook pros and new AirPods are the most likely products of the event. We've also already seen previews of the newest version of Macco that's Monterey. You would think that Apple's newest. Max would have Monterey on board. Maybe we'll get an official release date for that OS at [00:05:30] the event too. Now let's talk about what else we could see, but are a little less likely Bloomberg's mark Garman has reported that apple is working on a number of new max, including a new MacBook air, a new Mac mini, a larger iMac, and a new Mac pro Garman said that the new MacBook air could be released as early as this year. This laptop would be powered by what Garman called a direct successor to the M one. It would have the same amount of computing cores, but run faster. There may be more [00:06:00] graphics core too.
Speaker 1: The 13 inch MacBook pro would also get that SOC on the desktop front, a new Mac pro is rumored, but not until next year. This thing would be a beast with 20 or 40 computing core variations for comparison. The current M one has eight computing course for graphic scores. The new Mac pros would have either 64 or 128 course for comparison. The M one has eight. Would apple introduce all of those new Macs at once. [00:06:30] I could see us getting something like a preview of a new Mac pro like apple did in the past. However, I wouldn't expect of these devices to be available this year.
Speaker 1: And let's talk about the absolute long shots. There are a number of other devices. Apple has been reportedly working on for years. I am unsure if we'll see any of the following products on the 18th, the apple car, this has been rumored and rumored and rumored for role years. Would apple make a huge splash [00:07:00] and finally show off its vehicle? I mean, let's look at that animated invite. It's like, you're speeding forward. Like maybe in a car, I would say this is highly unlikely for this event because the rumor mill would be all over this, but it kind of fits the whole unleashed thing. Well, you know, you think about it. You horse driven carriages have leashes, I guess, remove the leash and you got no horse and now you're left with a carriage, like a car. Yeah. So, no, I don't think we're gonna see the apple car.
Speaker 1: Then there's also Apple's AR glasses, CNET, char tip, and broke the news that apple was working [00:07:30] on a powerful wireless headset for both augmented reality and virtual reality. We've seen apple build up its augmented reality features in its iPhone and iPads over the past few years, I think this is also a long shot for the same reason as the car. And then there's a chance we could see a home pod with a screen. This would overshadow nothing and could easily be dropped into the event without anyone batting an eye. What do you wanna see from apple at this event? Will you be sad if the touch bar, as a way, let [00:08:00] us know, don't forget to hit subscribe and that notification bell, because we will have live coverage of Apple's event as it happens. The Google pixel event is the next day and we'll have that live too.
Speaker 1: Plus we'll have reviews of whatever apple shows off. As soon as we get our hands on the new devices, if the new MacBook pros are as reported, I think this would be a great step forward for apple. The MacBook pros seemed less than pro when compared to Apple's older machines, something as [00:08:30] simple as more ports makes it easier to use a device, especially the SD card reader, a new body design would also be welcome as PC makers have really pushed things forward. That does it for us. I'm IA Zachar and I will see you online.
