Hot Honda Civic Si prototype previews the fastest, most advanced Si model yet
Cars
First we learned that the type R is returning to America, and now this.
The Honda Civic Si prototype.
And I am so excited to see that Honda has got a new fire in its bones for the performance end of the Civic spectrum.
Now this Prototype is a thinly veiled look at a production model that we'll see, sliding just in beneath the Civic type R.
Ready to do battle with old rivals like the Volkswagen Gulf GTI, and new upstarts like Hyundai's Elantra sport.
Now we don't have very many numbers but Honda does tell us that this will be the fastest Honda Civic Si yet.
It'll be powered by a high source tuned of Honda's 1.5 Liter turbo charged engine.
It'll also feature go faster goodies like active steering and active suspension.
That's the first the Civic Si has ever seen those.
As well as a limited [UNKNOWN] differential, and summer performance tires.
Now the production model may or may not echo the very aggressive Honda factory performance body kit, but we think this prototype is a pretty good guess at what the performance model will look like when it arrives in dealerships, between 17 and the 2018 15 models.
Pricing hasn't been announced yet, and we're also not sure how that launch window will jive with the Honda Civic Type R which it will share the spotlight with next year.
I don't know about you, but at least some small part of me is more excited about this more attainable SI model.
Just a little part.
