BARCELONA, Spain--South Korea's Samsung Electronics unveiled six new mobile phones on Tuesday, including a model that is 5.9 millimeters thick and claims the title of the world's thinnest phone.

The world's third-largest mobile phone maker, which after several years of rapid growth hit a barrier in 2006 and lost market share, used the 3GSM trade show to launch three new models in its Ultra II range of very thin phones, as well as three new multimedia models in its Ultra Special range.

The Ultra II phones--the U600, U700 and ultrathin U100--will be available in the first quarter, while the multimedia models F700, F520 and F510, which feature high-quality cameras, large displays, music software and TV tuners, will come to market during the first, second and third quarters.

Samsung, which competes against bigger rivals Motorola and Nokia and smaller Sony Ericsson, did not give estimated retail prices.
