>> Jasmine France: Now that Apple has started toting the remote functionality of the iPod and iPhone, portable headphones with build in volume and playback controls are starting to crop up left and right. One such model is the Zagg Z.bud earphones which come in 2 models. One with a mic for $80 and one without for 70. These earphones are exceptionally rugged in design with a cloth coated cord that's extra thick. You can chose from 4 color options for the cord: Black, red, pink or yellow and a little ways down on the left Y cable you'll find the control module and mic if applicable. There's an adjustable volume knob here and a single clickable button. Pressing a key once will answer or hang up calls; twice skips forward a track and 3 times skips back a track. Further down the cord, Zagg includes 3 slider balls for adjusting the length of the extra long Y cable. The earpieces are quite compact and the package includes a healthy array of ear tips but I had a little trouble getting them to stay in my ears, mainly because of the sleeves tend to slip off the edge. Also sound qualities in these ear buds isn't the cleanest though if you're into super heavy, thumping bass you'll probably like them.
