I've reviewed a lot of ovens that cost thousands of dollars, yet give a really bad performance.
Fortunately, this GE gas oven actually does a good job, and it only costs $1000.
Now, this range doesn't have some of the fancy bells and whistles you'd find on a more expensive oven.
The knobs are just so so in terms of durability, and there's not a lot of extra features.
But, this oven does the basic job.
Well.
This range also includes a cook top with a built-in griddle.
Now GE says that this griddle can fit six grilled cheese sandwiches, so I put it to the test.
Fortunately it did and gave the CNET office a pretty good lunch.
Unfortunately though You have to keep this griddle on the cook top, so there is not a lot of flexibility in what you can do with this centre burner.
But if you find yourself cooking a lot of pancakes or bacon or grilled cheese, this is a really good tool to have.
The oven space is not perfect.
I was a little bit disappointed in the roast chicken but that is mainly because this oven does not have a convection roast feature However with the $1,000 price tag you can't beat the overall performance you'll get for your money.
