[ Background music ] >> David Katzmaier: David Katzmaier Senior Editor for CNET here. I'm sitting next to the Westinghouse SK32H640G. This is a 32 inch entry level LCTU. There's also a 26 inch model in this series. This review will apply to both. This Westinghouse is one of the least expensive TVs available. It's also one of the least expensive one in the Westinghouse line it's just the 720P resolution LCD. Of course at this screen size you really don't need 1080Ps that's not a big knock. Styling on this TV is really basic it's the standard glossy black. It's got a matching stand here that does not swivel, a couple of rounded corners and that pretty much does it. Feature set on this TV again very basic. If you go into the menu you actually find that there's very little that you can do with the picture. In fact you can't even figure out what level a lot of the controls are at because they lack numeric indicators, just this icon based system so if you like tweaking your TV it's probably time to look for another entry level model. Westinghouse does offer adequate connectivity for the breed. There's 2 HDMI inputs on the back panel as well as the component video and PC input. The side panel adds another AV input so if you want a 3rd HDMI connection which is pretty rare at this price level you gotta look elsewhere. Picture quality on the Westinghouse was not that great even compared to the other entry level 32 inch LCDs out there that we tested recently. The black levels are relatively light among the lightest we've seen even for these inexpensive sets. Also the color on this TV not all that great but again not as bad as it could be. The color temperature was actually relatively accurate once you select the right preset but all told the picture quality not all that spectacular. On the plus side though it is one of the more efficient TVs of its breed of course that really only means a couple of bucks either way per year so even if you really are a stickler for saving power it's really not as much as you'd expect.
