The Samsung BD-F5900 Blu-ray player is an excellent value
If you're looking for a setup box that will play both physical discs and streaming media, then for the price they don't come much better than this.
Hi, I'm Ty Pendlebury with the review of the Samsung BD-F5900 Blu-ray player.
This player has everything going forward.
It's super quick and faster at loading discs and apps in any other player I've tested this year and turning on the player is instantaneous when you use Quick Start mode.
It also got several useful features including
3D playback, screen mirroring and a flash compatible web browser.
Styling is quite nice too with a rounded corner and a control-paneled barred from Samsung's own Bluetooth speakers.
Connections are pretty limited though with just the USB, HDMI, Ethernet and digital optical output.
Picture quality is great and the equal of the Panasonic BD-T230 which was [unk] by non-defeatable banner ads and video ads.
While the industry discusses the possibility of 4k blu-rays,
I personally feel that it won't be as popular as standard blu-ray and streaming is where the next battleground will be for.
Well it sounds like in BD-TF5900 won't likely do 4k streaming.
It will do what's available now very well and it's likely the last disc player you'll ever need.
This has been Ty Pendlebury for CNET.com.
