The final film in the Star Wars saga is going to need a new director.
Colin Trevorrow, the man charged with directing the as-yet-unnamed Star Wars: Episode IX, is stepping down, according to a statement from the film's production company.
Lucasfilm and Colin Trevorrow have mutually chosen to part ways on Star Wars: Episode IX, the company said in a statement.
Colin has been a wonderful collaborator throughout the development process but we have all come to the conclusion that our visions for the project differ.
Now it's not the first production shakeup for the eagerly anticipated movie.
Reports emerged in August that British writer Jack Thorne was joining the team to rework the Episode IX script.
Which had been written by Trevorrow and his writing partner, Derek Connolly.
There's no word yet on who will step in as the film's new director ahead of its 2019 release, but either way it seems clear that Trevorrow was not the man they were looking for.
