Sony's Xperia Pro will have 5G but does anyone still care?
Alright, lastly Sony's back and now this isn't PlayStation five news.
The company showed off its own premium phone the Xperia one, mark two, a follow up to its premium flagship experience.
One notable thing is this is the company's first 5g phone.
They also announced a second or previous second device really.
Teased it.
Yeah, there's I think, what is the what is that other device?
So they talked about something called the experience pro?
Yep.
So whereas the Experia one mark two,>> It's a fantastic name.>> It's not LG [INAUDIBLE] levels,
It's okay.>> And that's the part thatw e have said for oursevels [INAUDIBLE]
Thank you 5G.>> Right, thank you 5G.
And that's usually a [INAUDIBLE] or whatever.
The fifth, I don't even know even what they are up to.
Yeah, anyways, the difference between the Pro and the Mac 2 is that the fact that the Pro will have millimeter wave in addition to mid-band and low band 5G.
And Sony is talking about how [INAUDIBLE] plugs into a camera.
They obviously make very popular video and digital cameras, and you can broadcast live over 5G From a stadium or big event.
Now Sony struggled in the US and we were going back and forth of whether or not like what their actual presence was, but it's virtually non existent.
Right.
They used to have Frontier, they saw the [INAUDIBLE] phone here, they applied way back in->> Yeah, yes I remember.>> that was [INAUDIBLE] phone I think that was the time I was evern excited.
Where Sony phoned in the US for [INAUDIBLE] it had a playstation,
I remember, I think I reviewed [INAUDIBLE] lawsuit general.
Back in the day, nature days ->> [LAUGH]
Yeah, it but as normally at&t sold a bunch of those phones.
We were just looking up the Verizon cell it does sell a Sony phone but it came out in like 2014.
Yeah, they have a phone on their website.
It was hard to tell if it's even sold at this point Yeah, like I wonder if you tried to buy it now that I may not even let you.
It'll be interesting to see what Sony does with regard to their phones given that they have PlayStation five coming out yes and that you're dealing in a world that now has stadia with increased support from Google for their gaming platform.
You have Microsoft Increasing support for x cloud, which is their game cloud gaming service.
Right.
Around the Xbox that will be launched later this year.
I don't know why they just break down and just make a PlayStation phone with cloud service.
[CROSSTALK]
And where this is going?
Yeah,
But thats [INAUDIBLE] pretty for a while.
But I feel like prefer a brand is just like this date does anybody care about the experia brand.
That's a great question.
In the US, probably not.
Definitely not in the US.
[LAUGH]
It is actually a legit question around the world because I don't know how popular it is outside of the US.
I know in the US it's not existent.
One of the things I wonder, I mean, I wonder same thing with LG Yeah,
Because LG has, over the years increasingly seen it's it's at least US presidents decline.
Yes.
I sure
Can't speak for you know how its faring in its home country, South Korea.
I mean globally, globally, its market share is dwindled,
Right.
So, but at the same time, you have companies like Sony, who's making all these image sensors for everybody else.
And newcomers like LG who are making these displays for everybody else.
And they're doing these big components, part of it, I guess, maybe that they wanna you know, do something on their own since they are so heavily involved in the process.
Right.
