>> Hey I'm Donald Bell, Senior editor for Digital Audio and MP3, and today we're taking a first look at the Sony NWZ-A720 Walkman. In truth, what I'm really showing you here is the NWZ-A820, which is the version of the 720 that includes Bluetooth. Aside from the inclusion of Bluetooth on this higher priced AA20 series, the 720 is identical in features and looks. And you've got a 2.4-inch QVGA screen, you've got audio playback that includes MP3, AAC, WMA, protected WMA, and wav files. Video players supports MPEG-4 and H.264 videos, a photo viewer, and that's about it. It does all those things really well. There's some things that doesn't include, like an FM radio, doesn't include line-input or a voice recording, but it sounds spectacular. Video playback is really well done. It's a really crisp, dense pixels screen. Compared to last year's model which is the NWZ-A810, the A720 is a little bit larger, the screen size is obviously larger, the look is a lot blacker, which is kind of cool actually, I like this a lot more. So the player comes in three different capacities, 4-gigabytes for a $149, 8-gigabytes for $199, and 16-gigabytes for $299. The prices are right about what you'd expect and pretty well in line with Apple's iPod Nano pricing. Although, there's not a 16-gigabyte version of the Nano. The benefits of going with the Sony product over the Nano is that you get a really great sounding pair of included Sony in-ear earbuds. One last thing we really liked about the newest walkman series is that the battery life is fantastic. You can expect up to 36 hours of audio playback and almost 10 hours of video playback, which is really quiet good especially with the quality of audio and video that you're getting. So I'm Donald Bell, and that was a first look at the Sony NWZ-A720 Walkman.
