Sony gets serious about EVs at CES 2022
Speaker 1: Remember back in 2020, where Sony surprised everybody by debuting an electric car concept to CES. Well, looks like that. Lightning's gonna strike twice because Sony, the company that you probably know best for TVs and cameras and Walkmans, or is it Walkman was definitely Walkmans anyway, Sony built another electric concept y'all and it looks pretty awesome and more crazy. It looks like they're very serious about act actually building this one. So here it is the Sony vision S oh two concept, a curvaceous electric SUV that looks like the Sony w H 1000 X, M four [00:00:30] S to the Tesla model. Y AirPods, max, little headphone humor there for you. Now the vision S oh two measures, 192.7 inches long, 76 inches wide and 65 inches tall. So roughly in the same class as Tesla's Y and it's powered by a pair of 200 kilowat electric motors around 268 horsepower a piece.
Speaker 1: Now the two big question marks we don't know are the battery capacity and range. What some people would consider the most important metrics when choosing an electric SUV. [00:01:00] Personally, I, this agree, but even I'd like to know those numbers for now, big old question marks and TBS. Now inside, we've got a cabin that's reconfigurable in four seat or seven feet configurations and up front there's that big, old, full width display that I got to put my fingers on in the Sony vision F a one concept two years ago. It's one of those three displays bonded to one continuous glass panels deals that we're seeing a lot in concept cars and in production cars these days, now that it's got two electric cars under its belt, Sony has on its hand, a full blown [00:01:30] mobility division, which it appropriately calls Sony mobility and its expressed a very serious interest in building electric vehicles for consumers.
Speaker 1: Then again, we probably should have known that considering that two years ago, it enlisted Magna stair to sure that the vision, so one concept was actually roadworthy. It would've been a lot of effort for something they didn't plan on actually building. So what do you think, would you drive a Sony car? I would heck I'm recording this video on a Sony camera. How bad could it be?
