I'm Shara Tibken with CNET.
I'm here in Palo Alto, at Samsung's first store in the Bay Area.
The company has opened what it calls the Samsung Store.
It's a sort of experience store It's really close to an Apple store and this is kind of considered Apple's hometown.
This is kind of Samsung getting into the bay area.
It says it's really popular here.
It has a lot of users.
They open three stores like this in different malls around the country, one in Long Island, one in Houston and one in LA This is the first store of its type here.
And they're planning to use this as the model for stores all over the world.
Samsung hasn't actually said how many of those it will actually be opening.
But we can kind of assume that you might see something like this in Korea or some of the other places where they're really popular.
What they've tried to do is set up a sort of experience for you.
So when you walk in the first thing, you see Is their newest devices.
So in this case, it's the note 10.
They're really pushing 5g.
So in the front window, they're going to have a big 5g sign that says, Yeah, it's just us 5g.
So you know to come in Samsung's trying to position itself as a leader when it comes to the newest wireless technology.
It has about a handful of 5g devices where most of its competitors only have one or maybe two.
After you get kind of past the note you get to some of the older devices.
So the Galaxy S10.
They also have their a series devices here, which are their cheaper phones.
They're also going to have classes here and you can sign up for one on one sessions to get training.
They also are going to have a section for small and medium business owners.
So with this area, you'll have specific devices for business owners like more rugged tablets, You know, they can talk about things that the note can do.
And that's to just really help business owners learn what you can do with Samsung and be able to buy them directly from Samsung.
There's even a section that shows how you can do things like control your lights with your phone, and Or if you get a notification on your doorbell that will show up on your TV and your watch.
So for Samsung, this new store here in Palo Alto is really their first effort to get into the bay area with retail.
The store will open on Thursday, just in time for the holidays.
