Dolby Atmos is the next big thing in home theater.
It brings with it the added dimension of overhead audio effects.
But it usually requires a whole new set of speakers and a receiver to take advantage of it.
Samsung's new HW-K950 sound bar though is designed to take some of the pain out of upgrading to Atmos.
It's a 5.1.4 surround set, which includes wireless rear speakers with ceiling-facing drivers on the front and the back.
Compared to last years curved plastic sound bars the K950 looks like it belongs in another universe.
This is a solid aluminum sound bar with a wire grill and a pretty spiffy design.
The remote looks better than most credit card style models too.
In addition to the wireless rears, the set also includes a wireless subwoofer.
The Samsung offers a number of inputs, including two HDMI and an optical port.
Pricing though is $1499 and it will be available in mid-2016.
However, if that price is a little rich for your blood, HW-K850 is under $1000 and does without the wireless rears.
This system also gives you the option to add a couple of Samsung's multiroom speakers as rears if you want to as well.
