Hey, guys, David Katzmaier.
This is CES 2020 and this is Samsung's booth.
Not their booth at the CES floor, but this is their special first look event.
We're here behind the scenes before it even starts to give you a first look at one of the coolest TVs you'll see this year or anywhere Follow me.
This is Samsung's flagship AK TV, but it's really not about the AK, is the resolution, this thing is about design.
This cute 950TS has an extremely thin bezel around the edge, look at that.
You can barely tell that this isn't just picture hanging on the wall.
Now when I first saw this I walked into the room, I go, I've never seen really anything like this.
They say it's as thin as they've ever got it.
They're able to reduce something called the black matrix around the edge of the screen here.
This is a 75 inch size, really looks crazy because again with that large of a screen you get such a thin effect along the edge here that it erally does seem like it's all picture and it kind of is, they say it's literally 99% picture.
On this TV.
So generally the [UNKNOWN] are 95.
They have thin bezels, yeah, sure.
But again, this is really, really thin.
Now of course you're gonna say, wait, with this really thin bezel what am I trading off?
And I said the same thing.
I thought it might be edge lit.
No, this TV actually has a full array local dimming backlit.
Samsung is telling me they're gonna have the same Great picture quality, the best picture quality of 2020 on this TV.
So you have full [UNKNOWN] dimming, extremely bright, QLED for that color, and of course, 8k resolution.
Samsung's talking about their 8k processing this year.
They've improved their 8k AI, artificial intelligence processing, to do a deep learning to actually analyze the video quality, do some up-conversion tricks and magic to make it look Even better, we'll see of course, that's really important because there's no 8K content.
There's really nothing you can watch an 8K right now a couple of exceptions YouTube, but for in general, you're going to be watching a lot of 4k and even turning up on his TV so that up conversion really, really important.
Again, though this TV is more about the design than the pitch quality.
You come around to the side here you can see it's really, really tight to the wall And again, that super thin depth.
They're able to do that because they have a One Connect box that actually has all the inputs, HDMI, the tuner, all that good stuff.
It's external, so you just run a wire from that box to the TV itself.
And you can have this TV be on the wall with just that one connection to it.
We'll go over here and show the TV in profile.
They've got one on the wall And then I got this guy sitting here kind of sitting out in space you see as you walk by the edge that is just.
Super duper fan so again this is not only TV this is Q. LED LCD based technology they've slandered together it's kind of got a little lean here on the side they got these speakers on the back.
Even the whole back side is really slick looking.
The Q950TS is really all about the design.
That's what you're paying for extra on this.
Now, quickly we'll talk about Samsung has some other AK TVs that they're selling This year in 2020, there's the Q900 and the Q800.
The Q900 has similar image quality to the Q950.
But again, not that thin, really cool bezel around the edge or it's got a thicker cabinet as well doesn't have that one Connect box and is the Q800 which is the entry level on their 8k TVs in 2020.
They're going to say there might bring that price point down to where they had their very best 4K TVs in 2019.
So I looked at prices around Black Friday.
22 to $2500 for that 65 inch size.
If they can get their 65 inch 8K down there, maybe their 55 will be even cheaper.
It's not cheap.
8K is still gonna be really expensive in 2020.
But it's some significant improvement.
So anyway, that's what Samsung's doing with the 8K TVs.
