Samsung's next-gen smart fridge finds its voiceSamsung's Family Hub 2.0 fridge gets S Voice smarts, but Alexa and SmartThings integrations are still missing in action.
Samsung family hub fridges originally emerged on the scene as this crazy, 6000 dollar refrigerator that is super aspirational and has all of this crazy tech built inside. But now Samsung is adding that same technology to models that they plan to offer for less. Than the original model. So you can still get the 6000 version if you want, but there are also a bunch of different styles and designs now. So the four-door French-door model will have that integrative panel. In addition Addition to adding more apps like iHeart radio and Spotify, they've also added more customization with the white board function. So if you and your family members want to have different memos that you leave, you can do that. So they're trying to extend more capabilities to broader family members so it isn't just one person having control over that functionality. And in addition to that, They've also added Samsung's S voice functionality. So while there isn't smart things, or Alexa, or Google Home integration right now, you can still say things like hey, show me what's inside the fridge. And the camera that can see what your food is will actually open up and show you. You can also make changes to the calendar and do all sorts of other things with voice control. So that's Has the potential to be a really cool innovation. Although we would definitely like to see Samsung add integration for its own dedicated smarthome platform, SmartThings, at some point.
