>> Hi I'm Kent German, senior editor here at CNET.com. Today we're gonna take a first look at the Samsung SCHU340. It's a new phone for Verizon wireless service. [inaudible] a basic mid-level camera phone, very typical Samsung design. With the sort of rounded edges here, the camera lens up at the top, little bit angles on the top. So very much the standard Samsung design. Did like the blue color just a little bit, it is a little different, not your typical silver black. Here on the front you do have an external display. It is black and white, but it will act as a viewfinder for the camera. Resolution isn't that great cause it's a black and white display. Does the job nonetheless. Pretty compact shape, not too big, not too small. Open up the phone. Inside, display is decent. A little small, but the phone's kind of small as well, so that's understandable. Keypad buttons pretty decent size, they are kind of tactile as well, they're a little raised, just slightly above the surface of the phone, and the numbers on them are large. Overall though, mid-range feature set with a camera, speakerphone, but nothing in the way of eVideo compatibility or anything like that. I'm Kent German, this is the Samsung SCHU340.
