Hey, I'm Joshua Goldman, Senior Editor for CNET and this is a look at the Samsung HMX-W200.
It's a rugged minicamcorder that can survive a 6.5-foot drop and underwater swim down to 10 feet for up to 30 minutes.
It's also dustproof, but you want to be careful around sand which can easily get trapped in the mic hole and speaker holes as well as around the control pad here.
Also, the only thing keeping its ports and flip-out USB arm protected are these doors with the small seals and tiny latches.
Outside of its ruggedness though, the W200 is just a nice minicamcorder.
The controls are simple and it's one of the only models I've seen with a pause button.
So, you can quickly start and stop recording and not end up with a bunch of tiny clips and that button can also be used in playback for tagging
photos and videos for uploading with the embedded editing and sharing software when you connect it to a PC.
The video quality is decent.
It's much better in full sunlight than in low-light or indoors despite lens and sensors specs that might lead you to believe by the rise.
All in all though, it's a very good rugged minicamcorder for the money.
