>> AVG Antivirus Free edition is fantastic, thorough scans, automatic updates and scheduling. That last one can get in the way when it's scheduled at a time when you need to use your computer. I'm Tom Merritt from CNET.com with a quick tip on how to schedule your virus scans so they won't get in your way. Now, Jason Parker is our antivirus guru over at download.com and passed along this AVG free edition tip. AVG runs a scan every morning at 8am by default. Now, that can suck up a lot of resources or worse prompt you to cancel the scan which defeats the purpose of having antivirus software no. Here's how to reschedule the scan to a more convenient time. Launch the AVG test center, not the control center, the test center. Press the scheduler button. You'll notice two options for scheduling. The one called update plan is for how often AVG will check for updates also very important. The other one is called test plan in basic mode. The default test time is 8:00am. Highlight that one. Now press edit schedule. Press the up or down arrows until you find a time you like maybe overnight if you leave your computer on. I'm gonna schedule mine for lunchtime. Once you're done press okay. And that's it you'll no longer be tempted to cancel AVG's search for malicious threats. That's it for this quick tip. I'm John Merritt for CNET.com.
