-Hi, I'm Rich Brown, senior editor for CNET.
We're here at CES 2011 and we're in the Vizio showcase taking a look at Vizio's integration of the OnLine Gaming Service in its televisions.
So, we have one TV here and you see there's the OnLive service embedded.
So, OnLive, if you're not familiar, is a cloud-based gaming service.
Basically, it hosts all these games that you may be familiar with from PC or consoles, remotely streams them to a remote device and lets you play.
It's a
pretty straightforward process.
So, in terms of Vizio, Vizio and OnLive have partnered to include the OnLive service and TV is moving forward in the second half of this coming year as well as in various tablets, smartphones, Blu-ray players, and other devices.
So, in order to play OnLive, of course, you're gonna need a separate controller.
Vizio remote comes with a slide out keypad that works fairly well.
You can also buy a dedicated OnLive gamepad, looks pretty similar to an Xbox or PlayStation controller, and you can use that to play.
So you see here, there's a basic OnLive menu.
There's the My Game selection.
Hit the controller and you get a list of games.
There's 4 games listed here.
OnLive service currently offers about 50 titles in a variety of different payment packages.
So, if you queue up a game, it goes right into it and you can start to play.
So, as you can see here, the game is playing.
It looks pretty much just as good as it does on a regular console.
Games can play at 1080p and it works over a wired or wireless connection as long as it's fast enough.
That's pretty much the story.
I'm Rich Brown and this is the Vizio showing off its OnLive gaming partnership.
