>> Hey everyone I'm Jeff Bakalar, assistant editor here at CNET.com. And I'm here today with the Onkyo HT-SR800. The SR800 is strictly a AV receiver. It's a home theater in a box, but it doesn't come with a DVD player. if you want one of those you are going to have to provide your own. The front of the device is laid out pretty well, it has a ton of buttons, basically lets you do anything you can do on the remote upfront on the panel. It also comes with an easily accessible composite video input, so you can quickly hook up a camera or a video game console. The SR800 comes with an incredible amount of inputs, it has two HDMI inputs, three component inputs and a number of composite inputs, plenty you'll, you'll never need to go any further than this device right here. The only drawback to the HDMI input is that it can not carry the audio signal, usually HDMI is for video and audio, in this case you are only going to be getting the video signal out of HDMI. If you want to take advantage of the audio out of the device you are hooking up, you are going to have to use a different interface. The SR800 comes with Sirius and Xm compatibility, the SR800 is strictly a pass-through unit, it doesn't up convert anything, it doesn't upscale anything, whatever you put into it is whenever you're going to get out of it. The sound quality on the SR800 is excellent. What's even better is that it's upgradeable, you don't have to use the speakers that come with the unit, you can use your own. And if you use a higher grade speaker quality, you're going to get a better sound. Over all, the SR800 is a great value, it comes with a ton of inputs and it's incredibly affordable.
