>> Hi, I'm Matthew Moskovciak, Assistant Editor at CNET and this is the LGVH100. As it's the first player that can play both HD dvd's and Blue Ray disks, which gives it the title the Super Multi Blue Player. As you can see from the design, there's no buttons on the front of the unit. They're actually on the top. The buttons themselves are touch sensitive which we usually have a problem with but these actually worked perfectly fine. And the remote itself is, it's actually pretty good. It's better than most of the other players that we've seen and there's good button differentiation. We had no problem navigating just by holding it. If you look around back, you can see the connectivity of the unit and the most important part is the HD My Port which can output HD dvd's and Blue Ray disks up to 1080P. There's also a component video output and there's both optical and coaxial digital audio outputs. This player does not fully support all of the HD dvd functions. Most importantly, it lacks HDI functionality. That means that some of the menus and interactive features of HD dvd won't actually work on this player. In the same vein, the soundtrack support isn't 100% great, particularly the high resolution audio soundtracks will only output and dial down Dolby digital mode or DTS mode. Standard Dolby digital mode, over the HDMI output. In terms of performance, we really liked the image quality on both Blue Ray and HD dvd disks. Overall the LGVH100 is a pretty good unit and we love the fact that it can play both HD dvd's and Blue Ray disks, but some of the limited functionality and missing features is probably going to limit it's appeal to early adopters.
