>>[background music] Hi I'm David Carnoy, Executive Editor for CNET.com and I'm here with the Kinesis K3 Wind and Solar Charger. The idea behind it is it's a portable charging station that you take to the great outdoors where you just couldn't get any power. You want to fully charge it however with an AC adaptor before you go. It does come with an AC adaptor to use the traditional electricity route but once you're out on the road and you want to triple charge using the solar or wind elements, you just sit it out, ideally you have some good sun and no cloud cover and you have some good wind. It will take a while to charge with the solar, about 8 hours to fully charge it and then a good 20 hours for the wind side of things. The device is a little expensive, it's around $100 bucks and if you have to buy extra tips that are compatible with your device, those will go for about $10 to $15 online at igo.com. If you do buy some extra tips there is a handy storage compartment on the bottom of the device and then also a little carrying handle that you can hook to your backpack with a carabiner or even your belt. It isn't all that heavy and it won't weigh you down and it seems to be slightly water resistant though not completely. The company claims that fully charged the K3 can charge a mobile phone more than five times and recharge an iPod or MP3 player more than 10 times. If you're wondering how much battery you have left on the K3, there is a little LED indicator, actually four of them, on the side of the device. As the power trickles down, so will the LED lights.
