-Map troubles can't stop iPhone fever.
I'm Bridget Carey.
This is your CNET Update.
The iPhone 5 launched in 9 countries Friday and 6 years after that first iPhone, people are still excited and lined up around the globe, from Sydney to London to New York.
It was a big day.
I interviewed the loyal Apple customers in line at the Iconic Fifth Avenue Apple store in New York City.
-He never went to bed.
-How long have you've been waiting?
-Since Tuesday.
-What?
-Tuesday.
-Were you sponsored?
-Yes, I am by backwell.com.
-So wait, did they buy your phone for you?
-They bought my phone.
-We want to be the first Brazilians to get an iPhone 5.
-Check it out.
I started out on Broadway in the 60's and they announced that they didn't have the 64 gigabyte black AT&T phone, so I jumped in a cab and came over here.
-Is this your first time with Sprint?
-No, no.
I'm with them, happy with them but it has a limited
data.
-I'm with AT&T and a proud customer for a long time.
-Yeah, I like AT&T so I go with that.
-Actually, I was gonna switch to Verizon and when I found that that the data invoice was not part of the overall plan, I decided to stick with AT&T.
-It's gonna be a better screen, that's pretty much the biggest thing, it has the largest screen.
-It's twice as fast.
-Do you always come out for the lines?
-This is the third time for this one and the iPad 2, and this is the third
one.
-Never.
I haven't been in lane for anything since Tower Records as a teenager.
-I'm not this type of person that can wait a couple of weeks.
I have a little problem with having to have things when it come out.
-So, where did you to figure out if you should buy the new iPhone 5?
-Well, I read CNET like almost everyday, I watched it on television.
-Smart man, smart man.
Have you heard about the iOS 6 maps?
And--
-Yeah.
Messed up.
-I guess if I'm-- you know, Arkansas
or something like that, maybe I'll get a paper map but for the bigger you know, cities, I think I'm okay.
-Gangnam Style.
Gangnam Style.
Op op op op oppan Gangnam Style.
-The first guy in line waited for eight days but he did it to promote the app he created.
-Just to like kind of be shameless about it, if I went to a conference, it wouldn't be as much exposure and I wouldn't meet as many sort of potential users as I've met in the
course of the eight days.
-Looks like the lines were less crazy.
If you went directly to a carrier store and one user came across this sign at a London train station, "There you go folks, just use paper maps if iOS 6 isn't working out for you." From our studios in New York, I'm Bridget Carey.
