How to connect an iPhone to Apple's new 12-inch MacBook
Computer Accessories
I'm Dan Ackerman, and we're going to show you how to connect your iPhone or other iOS device to Apple's new twelve inch MacBook.
Shortly after I wrote the review of this twelve inch MacBook, I got a reader email asking, how one would connect an iPhone, or an iPad, or other iOS device to it because this system only has one port on it.
Is a USB type C port, which is different than a standard USB plug and of course your, your iPhone or iPad comes with a lightning to standard USB cable and, and obviously these are not gonna work together.
So I said it should work, let's find out what we need to do.
First thing I did was I got the Apple standard USBC to USB adaptor cable.
They're happy to sell you this for about $20 bucks.
And I plug that in over here.
Then I went and got the lightning cable for my phone, so lightning on one end, USB male plug on the other end, and I daisy-chained them together over here.
And then finally I connected my iPhone to it, and of course.
It immediately bumped to life.
I can feel the iPhone vibrating right now.
And it's gonna call up iPhoto and and, and, and iTunes.
You can see it preparing to sync my phone right here.
And of course the phone is charging at the same time.
So it takes an extra couple of steps.
You have to date chain two cables together.
I'm sure someone at some point soon will make a Lightning to USB-C cable, but for right now this is the extra step you have to go to.
I'm Dan Ackerman and that is how to connect your iOS device to Apple's new 12" MacBook.
