[MUSIC] Greetings. This is the Internet, welcome to Tomorrow Daily. The best geek talk show in the known universe. Yes, I know, you're like, Ashley, it's October 5th, where is the cool set you promised us? Where is Jeff Cannata? I know I said all those things but unfortunately I have to be the one to tell you we've experienced some construction delays. And so we're gonna keep doing these mini episodes of Tomorrow Daily for as long as we need to until this set is finished. I'm looking over at the space right now. I promise you it is coming soon, hopefully The next few weeks. Let's see the headlines. [MUSIC] Seriously guys, I'm really sorry about the new set. Okay, deforestation is a huge problem all around the globe but one U.K. start-up thinks they have a solution to the problem. Drones. BioCarbon Engineering thinks unmanned aerial vehicles wold be a great way to plant new trees in areas that are really difficult and expensive for human workers to access, and they think they can do it on a really large scale. The idea is they would use fixed-wing drones to make really detailed maps of the land that include biodiversity and nutrient information. And then translate that into a quote, precision planting platform, unquote. And once they have that plan in place, a specialized planting drone would be deployed, and shoot seed pods into the ground from about ten feet high. Bio-Carbon's big goal, planting a billion trees a year. Pretty lofty. So now when your cranky uncle starts complaining about how drones are terrible and all they do is stop firefighters from doing their jobs and crashing into babies, you have a great comeback. You're welcome Internet. All right so next step we want to talk about coloring books. Specifically bringing coloring books to life through the magic of AR and Disney research is doing just that. Have you ever spent time perfectly coloring in a page on a coloring book and said, I wish I could see this is 3D. This is exactly what Disney researcher's done. They've created an interactive app for Android and IOS that transforms drawing in to 3D object That can be colored in in realtime. It uses the Unity engine and can even fill in the back of your colorful character based on what you've done in front. Now, we could see tech like this integrated into all kinds of things, like coloring books, board games, and more. Unfortunately, though, for you, the app is not available to the public. So, we'll just have to wait for Disney to adopt the technology through it's retail products. Honestly, I think this is a great technology and it's really exciting to see in action. But, I am hoping they never translate this into Alvin Schwartz Scary stories to tell in the dark because have you seen these drawings people? They're terrifying. So going from these really cool living animations to being terrible people and parking in handicap spots. Obviously, if you're doing that, stop that. But, if you are, you might get a surprise the next time you pull into a space illegally. This comes from ad agency Bird Strategy and disability rights' advocate group Dis Life. These holograms To discourage non disabled drivers from parking in handicapped designated spots. A special lit camera scanned cars pulling into a space for a disabled sticker. And if that sticker wasn't present, a thin mist would come out and create a kind of screen. And then a projector played a video depicting a wheelchair bound person [UNKNOWN]. Confronting the driver and asking them to find another place to park. And even though this isn't cost effective enough to deploy everywhere, if it deters even one non-disabled person from taking away a spot for a handicapped person, I would say it's still a win. And like I said, first of all, if you're parking in handicapped spaces and you're not handicapped Shame on you, you're awful and secondly if you do, you better watch out because a hologram could be watching. Okay guys that's it for the headlines. It is Monday. Let's talk about crowd funding, It's time for back it or hack it. [MUSIC] On this Spack of the hacket, I want to talk about Salto, which is a full body motion capture suit. Which they're saying is affordable and plug and play, so easy to use. Well the suit itself has nineteen sensors on board and has an optional hands add on that has an extra seven sensors per hand, which would definitely be a good option if you're looking to capture Finger movement or if you wanna do something in virtual reality. Salto's creators say that the suit can be used for film, animation, VR, AR, gaming, sports and medical analysis and more. They want $100,000 to be able to make this suit and they've raised about $70,000 of that $100,000, the campaign's got about 16 days left, and if you want in you're gonna have to drop $600 for a standard [UNKNOWN] VR body suit or $730 for the early bird with the hands add on. But enough about them, let's talk about you and your pretty pictures. [MUSIC] Yes that's right our phontographers For the day is Krisham, he took this picture with his iPhone 6 Plus, let's take a look. He says, hi guys, my name is Krisham, I'm currently an undergrad mechanical engineering student in Oregon, and I love tech, especially 3D printing. Huge fan of your show, anyways, this picture is of a flower in my backyard That was taken a few months ago on my iPhone 6 plus. No filters. No retouch is. I like how the iPhone process is the color and also how it focuses on a flower and blurs the leaves of the back. It would be so awesome if you feature my picture. Great show So, keep it up. Well Krishim, your wish is our command. And you are now featured on the show. Great work. And honestly, you are a mechanical engineer? Maybe we'll see some of your future work on tomorrow daily? That would be amazing. If you guys want to If you want to send in your phonetography, you can do that,, email us tomorrow@cnet.com. Send us your picture, what devise you took it on. Tell us how to pronounce your name, like [UNKNOWN] cuz he was super cool. And also tell us a little story about what the picture is and where it came from, cuz we love stories. Also, if you want to hang out with us on the internet we're Tomorrow Daily all over the place. TomorrowDaily.com if you want to share the show with a friend, or a loved one, or a frenemy. I don't know what your life is. And also you can hang out with me and producer Logan on Twitter @ashleyesqueva and @loganmilloy. I'll let you guess which one is which. All right guys, that's it for the show today. We'll be back tomorrow with a brand new docket of brand new science facts, meeting science fiction, all the things in between. But until then, be a good human. We'll see you guys next time. Bye. [MUSIC]
