>> David: Hi, I'm Senior Editor, David Kastmeyer [assumed spelling] from CNET.com and I'm with the Geffen EXT WHDMI; this is a wireless
HDMI system one of the first available on the market. Geffen is a manufacturer of professional switchers and other AV equipment but
this is actually one of the better priced wireless HDMI systems. Previously they were extremely expensive not really priced for
consumers [inaudible] costs about 1,000 bucks but you know for a first generation system that's to be expected. The system consists
of a transmitter and a receiver the transmitter is the one with the single little antenna here on the top the receiver has two antennas.
Around back the transmitter has 2 HDMI inputs and a component video input here so there's enough for a good selection of gear. The
receiver on the other hand just has the HDMI output on the back along with this stereo audio output usually you're supposed to use the
same room about 30 feet apart. A line of sight they also tell you is a good thing to have so as long as these things can see each other
you're assured of excellent connectivity. There's also 1080p's 60 video available but that can't be transmitted by this system so just
be aware when you're hooking up your devices the 1080p 24 is as high as this thing can go, which is still better than the other
competing wireless HDMI system on the market from Sony which only goes up to 1080i. Another problem with this system is it doesn't
have a contingency for IR commands across the room so you can't aim your remote control and have your devices controlled over the system
unless they're compatible with the HDMI control schemes. I compared the Sony and the Geffen we were equally impressed by their
performance in general they both deliver a really good picture very similar to what you'd see with an actual cable, there's very little
break up. The Geffen did prove to be a little bit more stable overall, in fact, we were able to put the receiver here behind the
TV half way across the room and it really didn't affect the signal a very stable signal. The picture quality on both of these systems
worked very well, very similar to an HDMI cable but again for a price like this that's what we expect. That's a quick look at the
Geffen EXT WHDMI and I'm David Kastmeyer.
