>> I'm Dan Ackerman and we are here with Gateway's NV7915u.
Now this is a desktop replacement that somehow manages to
hit that magic ratio of price, performance, components and
features to earn one of our super, super, super rare
editor's choice nods. Now why is that? It's because this
guy is 599, you could certainly get a lot of very good
mainstream laptops for that price, not a lot of desktop
replacements out there and usually when they're around that
599 price you get kind of very suboptimal components inside.
Not a very desktop replacement like experience. However,
this guy it's got Intel's newest Core i3 processor which
we've been very impressed with performance wise even though
it's the lowest end of Intel's current Core i3 and i5, i7
still very good. It's got a large 500GB hard drive. The
screen, 17 inch screen, 16 by 9 aspect ratio. The actual
screen resolution is 16 by 9. You know, that's not 1080p,
but for anything less than like a 1900 by 1080 video it's
going to be more than fine. You also get HDMI out and some
cool kind of touch control buttons right here on the top for
your media functions. Obviously this is a budget system,
you're going to have a couple of trade offs. The keyboard
large, but a little plasticy for our taste. Touchpad nice
and big, but we're not fond of this weird kind of single
rocker bar for the left and right mouse buttons. When you
put the whole package together for 599 it's a pretty capable
laptop. So it's not great for gaming, you're not going to
get Blu-ray or anything, but if you need a really big 17
inch screen and you don't want to pay more than let's say
$600 you're not going to find a better deal out there than
this guy, the Gateway NV7915u.
