-It's Wednesday, August 24, 2011, I'm Wilson Tang on CNET and it's time to get loaded Facebook has a announced a number of new changes that they way will give you more control over what appears in your profile, to who it appears to and where you post from. First, users will get inline profile control that will allow you to share to everyone or certain groups as well as controls that let you approve what appears on your profile that other people post. In addition, you will able to change your mind afterwards with the new inline options and even tag locations of where you're posting from. Finally, you'll also be able to politely ask your friends to take down drunken or embarrassing photos of yourself. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the nation's third largest carrier, Sprint, will finally be getting the iPhone. According to the publication, Sprint will start selling the upcoming iPhone in mid October. The deal could help of AT&T's acquisition of T-Mobile and many expect to drop support for unlimited data plans if the iPhone arrives on its network. There is nowhere to get on if the new iPhone will support Sprint or AT&T and Verizon for that matter for that data services. While HP maybe getting out of the tablet business, Sony is gearing up to launch its new tablet S. News' leak doubt that the tablet will get a release in the first 2 weeks of September. Sony's new slate is expected to have a 9.4-inch display, integrated IR blaster, DLNA support, 3 and 5-megapixel cameras and run android 3.1, otherwise known as Ice Cream Sandwich. The tablet S is expected to be Play Station certified, meaning you will be able to enjoy assortment of games, music, movies, and books from Sony. Google made news last year when the announced that it will be bringing 1 gigabit per second internet service to selected areas in the country. All ready communities would support for the fiberoptic network or posting blazingly fast speeds that cable customers can only dream of. According to 1 user, his downloads max out at 151 megabits per second, which uploads top out in more than 92 megabits per second. That's fast enough to download an entire DVD in less than 4 minutes and 15 seconds. According to Microsoft, nearly 30,000 apps are available for the Windows Phone 7 marketplace. In comparison, there are 425,000 iOS apps and over 250,000 android apps. Microsoft has also finally started to allow developers to submit apps for the next major release of the operating system called Mango for release next month. Finally, Mozilla, the organization behind the popular Firefox browser has announced a new standard that it hopes will open web apps to your phones many new features. It's called web API and it allows websites standard way to access functions like your dialer, address book, camera location, and test messaging. Mozilla promises the process will remain open and secure. So, there's no chance that a malicious website can send out 10,000 text messages to all your friends while making a long distance call to a Nigerian friend. Those are your headlines for today.
