>>That moment all you Safari fans have been waiting for is finally here. Safari now comes with extensions sort of. Hi, I'm Seth Rosenblatt for DNET Download.com and today I'll show you how to turn on extension support in Safari 5. To toggle on the Extensions Menu go to the gear icon and choose Preferences under the Advanced Tab. At the bottom the Menu there's a check box to force the develop menu to appear on the Menu bar. If you don't see the Menu bar on Windows you can force it to appear via the Show Menu bar option at the top of the General Settings window. Now, go to the Develop Menu and hit Enable Extensions. The next time you return to the Preferences window you should see an Extensions Tab. To install an extension go to one of the unofficial Safari extensions collections such as this one at SafariExtensions.Tumbler.com and download an extension. Almost all these extensions have been imported from Google Chrome since Chrome and Safari share the same web kit rendering engine. Unlike Chrome though, Safari's extensions are not yet self-installing. You'll have to extract the Safari "extz" file and double click on it. The extension will then load in the Extensions Manager or you can disable or uninstall the extension. If you think you've got a killer extension idea for Safari or even if you just want to play around in a sandbox that's slightly different from Chrome's, there's an SDK for you to begin exploring. For CNET.com, I'm Seth Rosenblatt.
