>> Hi, I'm Rich Brown, Senior Editor for CNET.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the Dell Studio Desktop. This is a brand new system
from Dell designed to be sort of a mid-range everyday PC, it's a traditional Desktop format, as you can see and there's not that many
surprises to this system. Behind the front-panel door there's a media card reader and few ports for USB and audio. There's also an
option for a Blu-ray drive from Dell but we find that it's a lot more expensive than say from HP. Now, if you go with an HD video
option or you just want to connect this system to your TV in general you'll be happy to know that there's a couple of HDMI ports on
the back as well. There's one built-in, although if you go with the graphics card option this card has 2 HDMI ports on it, so you
get a fair amount of flexibility as far as what kind of displays you can connect the system to. Now, inside you can see it's just basic
PC, this system has 64 Bit Vista and it has 4 Gigs of memory so it can really use all that RAM. You'll see the kind of unique hard drive
layout here, Dell sort of lays them flat rather than, ya know, sticking out this way. You can only fit 2 drives on this mother board
anyway so it's fine it doesn't do any real damage here with that different layout. You get a little bit of expansion room down here
although there's a video card taking up the 1 PCI graphic slot, makes sense. We're also glad to see this system comes with a relatively
low-end Intel Quad-Core CPU. So Dell offers WiFi networking options with this system and this is the 802 Dell 11 WiFi antenna. Now,
when you think about a system like the iMac that has all of its receivers intergraded, you can see why this looks a little, ya know,
inelegant. You also get this little thing is the IR receiver for the TV remote. So that's 2 kind of bulky little plastic things you
have connected to this PC. So overall we find this system pretty straight forward if you're looking for a mid-range PC you may be
interested in it, although we've seen better deals out there so we suggest you shop around. I'm Rich Brown and this is the Dell Studio
Desktop.
