>> Welcome to CNET Top 5, where each time we meet we countdown another hot CNET list, I'm Tom Merritt. You know I love to look at our search terms report. I'm kind of weird that way. It's a fascinating peek into the psyche of the CNET audience. Look at it this way. If that audience was one giant mega brain, what would be on his mind? Does it get migraines? Maybe you should back off the caffeine. Anyway, let's analyze the Top 5 search terms from CNET's News.com. At number 5, Weather -- Weather? Yeah, weather. Maybe this has to do with the mysterious Internet cables severed in the Middle East or maybe you're just hoping technology can finally tell you if it will rain. Don't trust it, pack an umbrella. Coming in at number 4, Yahoo. Well, yeah with all the merger talk, I could have guessed that one, although it's interesting to note where Microsoft and Google came in on this list. Stay tuned. Up to number 3, HD DVD or Blu-ray -- that whole phrase. Safe to say, that's the last time that combination will be seen on our charts, but if you didn't hear, Blu-ray won the war against HD DVD. My gut tells me people just stop caring about this now. Let her donate that HD DVD to the old Digibarn. Sliding in at number 2, Police Blotter. It's been a while since we had a good old fashion juicy tech crime scam, well hasn't it? And you're obviously hungry for one. Okay, fine. We'll pay Brian Cooley to get caught speeding while texting on Sunhill Road. Will that satisfy you? Before we get to number 1, let's check in on the terms bubbling under the top 5. Google ahead of Microsoft. Porky play. All right, let's get to our number 1. This is the most used keyword on News.com search. At number 1, it's iPhone. Sorry, you can rally, you can gnash your teeth, you can point to the tilt or the void or the N95, but the truth is folks, the iPhone is H-O-T -- hot and it's not cooling down, not while we're all thirsting for a 3G iPhone announcement anyway. Well, that's it for this edition of CNET top 5. You can contribute to the top search term. Just go search for something at CNET News.com. I'm Tom Merritt, see you next time.
