CNET makes beautiful babies
Hello, everyone! Im Molly Wood and welcome to the CNET Mailbag, the show where
we read your feedback, open your snail mail, try to answer questions about the things
were doing, and create work for our podcast producer, Jason Howell.
Lets start with a followup to last weeks show after all the complaining that happened
about our video ads, I honestly thought you would go CRAZY over the iPod Touch ad on
our front door this week.
But no! I got a bunch of emails like this one from Brendan:
Gotta say.. I think the iPod Touch ad y'all are running is actually quite cool, with the
navigation all spinning and twirling and doo-dad whatnot. Just wondering: Did CNET
make it, or Apple? Either way, it's
neato!
Wow. Huh. I did not expect that. But Im happy! Also, Apple made it. Of course.
Next technical question, which was apparently happening a lot last week. OldNewThing
says:
The Balmer interview keeps asking for a flash upgrade, which i have. Chrome, IE, and
FireFox all the same. Balmer = Fail.
Yes. Ok. That apparently happened to a lot of people. In THAT case, the upgrade your
flash message was happening because the requested video wasnt found in our
database. Basically, the video was accidentally promoted before it was published. We
were REALLY excited. And well fix the mistaken error message, which some of you are
also seeing. Thanks for the heads up!
Also, heres a quick update on the CNET Conversations podcast situation. Its been
added to CNET TV under tech shows and for right now, if you want it as a podcast or RSS
feed, go to CNET TV, choose it from the menu, and then click Subscribe. You can
subscribe in iTunes or just paste the link into your RSS reader. More is coming. Its
complicated.
And now to your snail mail. First, the mystery of the glitter letter! I showed it a couple of
weeks ago, but didnt open it. Apologies to Grant, who, it turns out, hand-made this
wonderful card with the CNET logo and slogan, and he lives in Malta, and this card says
hes seven. Years old. Grant? Youre pretty great at card-making. And thank you!
Ok, a little lovermail. Jon says:
I need to get this off my chest : Natali Del Conte and Mark Licea are simply the most
adoreable cutie pies ever (in addition to being great CNET reporters). Seriously, they
need to get married and make babies asap, imagine the results !
Hmmmm . Moving on, Matt says:
On CNET conversations with Steve Ballmore, Ina looked lovely! Please tell her! I loved
her hair and blouse!
And Pieter says:
Just wanted to give Tom, Rafe and guest Carmine Gallo a thumbs up on their Real Deal
episode about Steve Jobs. I really liked their analysis of the Apple distortion field. Good
job guys!
Thanks, everyone. All involved appreciate the compliments.
And finally, a bit of crazymail from the Feedback box. I love this stuff. Eseku09 says:
Hi,how u" doing i hope u"are fine
Who do you think he really means? And cibercafeccsfabcid writes:
please simplify let device as entrance for people to check time of arriving and leaving
time to ............ money the budget of usage machine.
Whoa. And finally, this one from Vikings, who says:
I can wait
I feel scared. So on that note, thats it for this week, everyone! Keep the feedback and
questions coming! Email me at Mailbag@cnet.com, or send your snail mail to 235 2nd
St., San Francisco, CA, 94105. Thanks for watching, everyone.
