>> Hi everyone. I'm Jeff Bakalar assistant editor here at CNET.com. I'm here today with the Audiovox D8000IP. The D8000IP is a portable DVD player. Now, what's cool about this thing though is that it also allows you to play videos off or your iPod. It has a slot that mounts your iPod and charges it and it actually works pretty well. Not only can it play iPod videos but it can also play MP3s off of an MP3 CD or off of files on your thumb drive. In addition to a USB port, it also has slot for a Sony Memory Stick or an SD card, which will allow you to play movie files and music files. However, the list of compatible file types isn't that extensive and you're only gonna really be playing JPEGs and MPEG movies. Overall the design of the D8000IP it feels kind of cheap, we weren't really that impressed with the sturdiness. And also, it has a battery that protrudes out of the back of the unit that makes it really cumbersome and gives it kind of an unattractive feel to it. The included remote is a nice touch. But, we were questioning whether or not you actually need a remote for a portable DVD player. If you don't have your iPod in its dock, you can put the remote in there for easy storage. Overall, for this price there are other models that do play a longer list of file types. So, you might be better off checking out one of those. I'm Jeff Bakalar and this has been the Audiovox D8000IP.
