Apple MacBook Spring 2010
>> Dan: [Music] I'm Dan Ackerman and we are here with the Apple MacBook. I guess we'd call this latest refresh the Spring 2010 MacBook, and if you think it looks a lot like the white MacBook we saw back in the fall of 2009, well you're pretty much right. From the outside, looks exactly the same. It's a white polycarbonate unibody construction, still $999. So what did they change inside? Well, this time around, we've got a slightly upgraded processor. They've gone up to 2.4 GHz. It's still an Intel Core 2 Duo, not the newer Core i3 or i5 processors. You can find those in the 15 and 17-inch new MacBook Pros. They've also upgraded the graphics. Right now we've got a NVIDIA GeForce 320M, and that replaces the old GeForce 9400 which was actually pretty good for an integrated graphics chip, and this new one is even better which is especially good news now that Mac gaming is undergoing something of a resurgence thanks to things like Steam for the Mac which is finally available which means you actually have a selection of games you can play on your Mac, and now you've got the decent graphics to go with it. So you've still got all those Mac staples that you love like the gigantic touch [inaudible] with the Multi-Touch [inaudible] and the keyboard that everybody likes. The displays are still 16 by 10 so this is a 1280 by 800 display while a lot of newer laptops have moved to 16 by 9 displays so it's usually 1366 by 768, and of course if you want to upgrade to the 13-inch MacBook Pro which is $200 more, you get an additional 2 gigs of RAM, that's 4 instead of 2, you also get the backlit keyboard and of course you get that SD card slot, something still missing from this system. But of course if you don't want to spend the extra 200 bucks, the white polycarbonate MacBook, still $999 another 13-inch laptop there that you can get for less that component wise are about the same but you do get the cool Mac design and stuff like the Touch Pad everybody loves. You get that OS10 Ecosystem and you know that acts like iTunes, like Photoshop are really built with Mac's in mind. You already see tons of MacBooks at colleges and universities and in coffee shops. With this new refresh, you might even see more because they've done the same thing they always do with the MacBooks which is keep the price the same, but upgrade the components. They've put all that together, and you might very well have the ultimate back to school laptop. I'm Dan Ackerman, and that is the Apple MacBook Spring 2010 edition.
