A look at the simple Alottazs Labs Garageio smart garage door opener

Hi. I'm Rich Brown for CNET. I'm here in the garage of Alottazs Labs. And they have a product called Garageio. [unk] Internet [unk]device. It's designed basically to let you remotely control your garage doors through your cell phone. So you can see Garageio installed here. There's a couple of cables that you connect to your existing garage door opener, so it's designed to be kind of DIY solution. Alottazs Labs has worked with 95 percent of garage doors that are already in the market, so you don't have to buy a whole kit or call a dealer if you install. It really is supposed to be DIY. You're gonna control your inputs here that go latch the opener, and then there's another line because it has 2 sensors on the door. The whole idea is that through the app you can see who's coming and going out of your garage. You basically get a little bit more intelligence behind the whole operation. So this product is still in the development stage. They have a crowd-funding campaign coming in the next month or so. They say it'll cost about $149 when it hits retail. But you may yet get a better price if you get in on that early funding. Now, there are a handful of other openers out there, including some that are tied to specific systems as well as some stand-alone devices. Garageio looks pretty good though. It actually has a pretty simple interface which may set it apart. So I'm Rich Brown, this is the Alottazs Labs Garageio.
