Verizon wants to go the distance

Verizon Communications applied to the Federal Communications Commission on Friday to offer long-distance telephone service in Virginia. The FCC has 90 days to review the application. The company applied earlier to the FCC to offer long-distance service in New Jersey and Vermont. Verizon has received FCC approval to offer long-distance service in New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island.
