Verizon to offer Moto X September 26

Verizon on Thursday announced it will soon offer the second-gen Moto X smartphone as part of its roster. Soon as in tomorrow, soon.

Slated to arrive Friday, September 26, the carrier will sell the black 16GB model for $99 with a two-year service agreement. Customers can also take advantage of a limited time promotion which sees the white version with a bamboo back going for the same price.

For those who prefer to customize the look (and feel) of their smartphone, Motorola's Moto Maker will also begin accepting orders for Verizon. Personalized models will be available in 16GB ($99.99) and 32GB ($149.99) storage options.

The carrier is also tossing in extra 4G LTE data for subscribers who activate or upgrade to a new smartphone on a MORE Everything plans as another separate promotion. If you opt for a rate plan with at least 1GB of monthly data, Verizon will give you 1GB of bonus data per month for up to two years.

As for the handset itself, the second-gen Moto X is a solid Android 4.4.4 KitKat device that's equipped with a sharp 1080p display, a quad-core processor and useful software tricks from Motorola. The company also released the Moto G , which has scaled down specs compared to the X, and a cheaper price tag.
