A rumoured 5.8-inch dual-SIM smart phone goes by the name Samsung Galaxy Fonblet 5.8, apparently.

What do you call a gadget that's sort of a phone and sort of a tablet? If it's a rumoured 5.8-inch dual-SIM smart phone you call it the Samsung Galaxy Fonblet 5.8, apparently.

SamMobile claims the Fonblet 5.8 will have a 960x540 AMOLED screen and the latest Android Jelly Bean software on board. A white version is reported to be set for Europe, although whether that includes Britain, Samsung isn't saying yet. Most dual-SIM phones don't turn up on these shores, so that suggests the Fonblet isn't destined for this country.

The purported Fonblet is similar to the Samsung Galaxy Player 5.8, which is only on sale in South Korea.

Samung already has an oversized phone or undersized tablet: the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. The Note 2 measures 5.5 inches from corner to corner, even bigger than the original Note's 4.8 inches.

Let's talk about the elephant in the room: that name. Fonblet? Seriously? Sitting in the middle ground between phone and tablet the Note was nicknamed in some quarters a 'phablet', and it seems Samsung could make the portmanteau name official with the Fonblet.

I doubt it though. Samsung already has two different tablet brands -- Galaxy Tab and now Galaxy Note, with the arrival of the Note 10.1. Another type of tablet would just be confusing.

Oh yeah, and 'Fonblet' is ridiculous.

Samsung has a bunch of new phones to look forward to this year, including the Samsung Galaxy S4, hotly-anticipated sequel to the Samsung Galaxy S3. And there's talk of even bigger Notes, measuring a rumoured 6.3-inch version and an 8-inch model.
