iPhone 5S out on 20 September in UK, for £549
Apple's new iPhone comes in gold, silver and black -- read on for all the details.
The rumours were true -- Apple has lifted the lid on its new high-powered iPhone, the iPhone 5S.
The iPhone 5S comes in gold, silver and a grey-ish, black-ish hue, bringing all-new colours to the table. It also has a fingerprint scanner, to stop intruders accessing your mobile.
Fingerprint scanner
The scanner has a sensor that's extremely thin, and is baked into the home button, which has now lost the squarish-circle that sits at its centre. A steel detection ring around the side of the button figures out when you're touching it, so you don't have to actually click the home button.
You'll also be able to use the scanner to confirm iTunes purchases.
Processor and camera
Apple calls the iPhone 5S a "huge leap forward" in processing power. It's running on the A7 processor, which -- the company boasts -- plays host to over 1 billion transistors and has 64-bit 'desktop-class' architecture.
A new part of the chip called the M7 measures motion data from bits like the accelerometer and gyroscope, which Apple thinks will work well for a new set of fitness apps, including the newly-unveiled Nike+ Move.
You get 10 hours of 3G talk time and 250 hours on standby, Apple says. The iPhone 5S has LTE support, so you'll be able to use it on the UK's 4G networks.
The camera meanwhile now has a larger active area, with bigger pixels for a better picture -- the same tactic that HTC uses in its Ultrapixel sensor. The flash now has two LEDs, which aim to create better skin tones in your snaps, while there's a new burst mode that takes 10 photos per second, and a slow-motion 120fps mode too.
The iPhone 5S is Apple's new high-end iPhone, and sits alongside another new mobile, the colourful and plastic iPhone 5C.
