Hewlett-Packard (HWP) announced that statistics from its line of performance-monitoring tools can now be viewed with a Web browser.

In the latest 4.7 version of NetMetrix, a suite of software diagnostic tools, two reporting applications have been added that include Web-based enhancements.

The key feature of the new tools is the ability of an administrator to monitor performance across an entire network, rather than on a segment-by-segment basis, allowing the administrator to zero-in on a certain segment, server, or PC. An administrator can also customize the parts of the network that need to be measured and when that usage measurement should take place.

The tools allow a manager to receive statistics on network usage in a way that minimizes useless information and maximizes data that is relevant to a particular network problem. The new Internetwork Response Manager and Reporter can be viewed from a browser or a traditional OpenView Network Node Manager console.

The new Web-based NetMetrix tools are available now. The NetMetrix Internetwork Response Manager is priced at $3,995; the Reporter is priced at $4,995; and the Enterprise Manager 4.7--a bundling of the NetMetrix suite of applications--is priced at $20,995.
