Sony has put a price tag on its new Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact phones.

On Thursday, the company announced the full-sized XZ will become available in the US on October 2 with a suggested retail price of $700. It's smaller counterpart the X Compact will sell for $500, starting on September 25.

The X Compact comes with a lower price than the new iPhone 7 ($649), and the XZ is also just a little less expensive than the iPhone 7 Plus ($769), with a comparable 32GB of storage. The Sony phones are also less expensive than the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, which retails just under $850 in the US and has been recalled worldwide due to defective batteries that have caused explosions.

With a 4.6 inch screen, the X Compact is one of the smaller phones on the market, but it has a similar battery capacity and storage size to its larger counterpart.
