Short Take: Qwest's Thompson joins Global TeleSystems

Former Qwest Communications International vice chairman H. Brian Thompson has been elected chief executive and chairman of Global TeleSystems Group, an owner and operator of European telecommunications companies, by the company's board of directors. Thompson, 59, stepped down at Qwest last November. Prior to Qwest, Thompson was CEO at LCI International, a long distance carrier acquired by Qwest last year.
