Short Take: Qualcomm touts wireless data plans, new chips
Wireless communications firm Qualcomm unveiled its newest high-speed wireless Internet access technology, called High Data Rate (HDR). The company also unveiled new chipsets and software that support HDR. Because HDR allows for a constant, "always on" Internet connection, Qualcomm executives hope the technology, which allows for data rates up to 2.4 megabits per second, will compete with cable modems and digital subscriber lines.
