Short Take: Qualcomm, Ericsson finalize CDMA agreement

Qualcomm and Ericsson, two leading wireless communications equipment companies, finalized their truce over code division multiple access (CDMA) technology by closing the sale of Qualcomm's wireless infrastructure business, and some research and development resources to Ericsson. As part of the deal, the companies have settled a patent lawsuit and will focus on one CDMA standard. Qualcomm also unveiled its new semiconductor and software supporting the third-generation, or "3G," high-speed standard for handsets and base station equipment.
