Short Take: HP, MS to offer telecom software

Hewlett-Packard and Microsoft announced plans to offer network-based applications on Windows NT Server for the telecommunications market, traditionally a segment dominated by Unix. HP will develop applications for the operation of SS7 and voice networks. The new software for telecommunications firms will roll out next year, said the companies.
