Excite@Home, a major high-speed Internet access provider, suffered
network-wide email outages on its @Home cable-modem service recently, the
company confirmed. During a hardware and software upgrade last week, the
company had "some problems with the migration," according to a spokeswoman.
The company does not know how many of its more than 2 million customers may
have been affected, though any downtime apparently was intermittent. Service
has now been restored, according to the company.
